Create a Project in Stelaah
Create a project when a body of work needs its own owner, lifecycle, tasks, files, deadlines, commercial context, and client relationship.
Verification scope: These instructions describe the current product source. Authentication, plans, live delivery, and workspace configuration can affect results.
Purpose
A project is the parent delivery record for connected work. Only its name is required. It can begin without a client, due date, budget, tasks, files, or fabricated progress.
Before you start
- Confirm that your role can create projects.
- Identify the client first when applicable.
- Decide whether to start blank or use a verified template.
Step-by-step guide
- Open Projects. Choose New Project or use global Create.
- Enter the project name. Creation remains unavailable until a name is present.
- Choose a template when useful. Review and edit any generated structure before creation.
- Add project context. Optionally add description, client, budget, due date, progress, owner, status, labels, and color.
- Review existing client work. If the client already has live projects, decide whether another project is necessary.
- Link tasks. Search active tasks. A task with no independent client can inherit the project client.
- Create the project. Use standard create, create and open, create and add another, or Create task to save and open a prefilled task draft.
Example
Create “Autumn campaign,” connect the client, assign the lead, choose Planning, and link discovery work. Leave budget blank until scope is approved.
Troubleshooting
Create project is unavailable
Enter a name and wait for any template preparation to finish.
A client template appeared
Review, change, edit, or remove the client's active default template.
A task has the wrong client
Review the task directly when it has independent client context.
