Create and Assign a Task in Stelaah

Create a task for a specific work item that needs an owner, status, or place in a project workflow. A task name is required; project and due date are optional in the manual form.

Verification scope: These instructions describe the current product source. Authentication, plans, live delivery, and workspace configuration can affect results.

Purpose

Tasks represent actionable work and can connect to projects, clients, departments, assignees, vendors, subtasks, files, links, dates, recurrence, priority, and type-specific statuses.

Before you start

  • Confirm that your role can manage the task.
  • Know the project and client context when applicable.
  • Check for an existing same-name task in the project.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Open Tasks. Choose new task, use global Create, or create from a project.
  2. Enter the task name. Date recognition may suggest a due date, but you choose whether to accept it.
  3. Add useful detail. Optionally add description, attachments, links, subtasks, and cover.
  4. Choose project and type. Select a project or No project. Project choice can constrain task types and statuses.
  5. Assign the work. Choose one or more assignees. New manual tasks default to the active member unless changed.
  6. Add relationship context. Optionally choose a client, department, or external vendor.
  7. Set timing and lifecycle. Optionally add due date, recurrence, priority, status, and labels.
  8. Create the task. Use standard create, create and open, or create and add another.

Example

Create “Send first design for review,” connect its project and client, assign the designer, set Friday, choose High, and place it in To Do.

Status cannot be changed

Request-derived tasks can require an authorized assignee, owner, lead, editor, or admin.

Permissions and limits

  • Owner, admin, and member roles manage ordinary tasks.
  • A Limited collaborator can manage a non-trashed task they created under the current rule.
  • Task creation uses active identity for author and default assignment.
  • Completion can affect recurrence, dependencies, notifications, activity, and approvals.
