Decision Memory
Decision memory is the preserved reason, evidence, owner, and consequences of a decision, kept attached to the record it concerns.
Example
A pricing exception that records who approved it, why, and what evidence supported the decision, not just the final number.
Why it matters
Preserved decision memory prevents the same debate from being repeated later, and it protects the reasoning behind a decision from being lost after a handoff.
Limits and cautions
Meeting minutes alone are not decision memory. The record needs to stay attached to the specific decision and its downstream consequences to be useful later.
