Dependency Mapping

Dependency mapping is explicitly identifying what a piece of work relies on before it can proceed, and what relies on it in turn.

Example

A deliverable that cannot ship until a third-party asset arrives, made visible on the project timeline rather than discovered at the last minute.

Why it matters

Unmapped dependencies are a common cause of surprise delays, since the work looks fine in isolation until a hidden upstream blocker surfaces.

Limits and cautions

A dependency map does not need to be exhaustive. It needs to be detailed enough to catch the dependencies that have historically caused delay.

Relevance to Stelaah

Stelaah surfaces task and project dependencies within its planning views, where supported.
