Escalation Fatigue
Escalation fatigue is reduced responsiveness to escalations caused by too many low-priority issues being escalated alongside genuinely urgent ones.
Example
A manager who receives ten "urgent" escalations a week, most of which turn out to be routine, starts responding more slowly to all of them, including the rare truly critical one.
Why it matters
Naming the pattern points at the real fix: tightening what qualifies as an escalation, not asking people to somehow care more about each one.
Limits and cautions
Tightening the criteria too far can suppress genuinely important issues that don't neatly fit the narrower definition.
