Founder-dependent operations is an operational pattern where critical decisions or knowledge route through the founder by default, out of habit rather than genuine necessity.
Example
Every client proposal requiring the founder's personal review long after the team could reasonably handle most of them.
Why it matters
It is the most common structural bottleneck in growing small businesses, and it is usually invisible to the founder experiencing it as simply "being busy."
Limits and cautions
Founder involvement in everything does not necessarily reflect necessary quality control. It often reflects undelegated authority more than necessary oversight.
