Knowledge Silo
A knowledge silo is information held by one person or team that isn't accessible to others who could use it.
Example
Only the original account manager knows why a client's invoices always need a manual adjustment, and that reasoning was never written down anywhere else.
Why it matters
Identifying a silo before it causes a problem, rather than after the person holding it leaves, is what makes the knowledge recoverable.
Limits and cautions
Not everything needs to be documented. Over-documenting routine, low-risk knowledge can create as much overhead as the silo it prevents.
Relevance to Stelaah
Stelaah's notes and client records give informal knowledge a durable, searchable home tied to the work it explains.
This connection describes product intent, not a guarantee that every plan or workflow supports every related capability.
