Epic
An epic is a large body of work grouped under one theme and broken down into smaller, individually completable tasks.
Example
"Redesign the client portal" is an epic; it might break down into a dozen individual tasks, each small enough to complete in a few days.
Why it matters
Grouping related tasks under one theme keeps a large body of work visible as a whole, while still tracking progress at a manageable, granular level.
Limits and cautions
An epic left too broad or open-ended for too long can become a catch-all that never actually finishes.
